Clean drinking water. It is probably something that many people have not given much thought to. By living in the United States almost every person has access to clean, unpolluted water that they can use to cook and clean with, drink and bathe in. However, the rest of the world is not so lucky. They do not have access to clean water and are forced to drink out of unsanitary conditions such as lakes, rivers and streams. The charity known as Living Water International is devoted to helping these people gain access to clean drinking water.
The Living Water International is a non-profit organization out of the Houston, Texas area that works to get all countries access to clean drinking water. The organization works to get clean drinking water to these various countries by taking the money that is donated to them and drilling wells and water refineries in these areas. The reason that many of these countries do not have clean drinking water is because they do not have the access to the resources to create a well or pump to get the clean water from the earth. That is where the Living Water International helps out.
At the moment the Living Water International has helped out in over 26 countries all over the world. They have developed wells, water drill and clean water facilities in these countries. It is estimated that this organization has built over 6,500 drills and helped 9.5 million people get access to clean water.
Another aspect of this organization is the ability to teach these countries the hygiene that comes with clean water. This includes brushing their teeth, washing their hair, hands and body and even washing their clothing.
Charitable donations that are made to this organization help them to build drills and develop wells so that everyone in the world can have access to clean drinking water.
