Usually when someone mentions that they are giving a charitable donation the first thought that comes to mind is that they are giving a monitary donation. However, over the past few years donations of other kinds have been accepted by charities all over the world. One of the most unique and inspiring charities that will take items for donation are those that will distribute books to the American troops.
There are thousands of American troops all over the world serving the American country and other foreign countries. These troops give up a lot to be able to serve overseas. They leave their families and friends, they leave the comfort of their own home and some of the luxuries that they had back in the States. Many charities have noticed this and decided to help them out by giving them access to a number of books that people have donated.
American troops love to read just as much as everyone else in the world. They find it a relaxing activity that allows them to be able to take away the stress of fighting overseas. Luckily, donating to these causes is as easy as sending a flat rate box.
There are a handful of charities online that are aimed at getting the American troops the books that you donate. The process is very simple. You send the box of books either directly to the charity or to a resource center for the troops. Since all military bases are considered part of the United States, flat rate boxes will travel there at the same cost as sending it to a neighboring state.
