GLOBAL SERVICE: On September 24-26, 2003, the Global Service Institute (GSI) at Washington University in St. Louis hosted an international symposium to assess and critique the state of knowledge about national service programs worldwide. GSI is a research initiative of the Center for Social Development. Over 60 individuals including researchers, policy-makers and funders from 28 countries attended the symposium.
