Tax Deductions for Small Businesses

Running a small business is time consuming and can be hard on your financial bottom line.  You can increase your reputation and your tax deductions by donating to charities and local communities.  It will look good for your company and likely draw in more revenue as well as save you money during that very stressful month around tax season.  Small businesses need to pay particular attention to whom they donate to, as it could reflecton their company and in their profits for years to come.

A method of donation and charity could come in the form of supporting a local little league team.  This is good for business because not only will consumers see that you are a kind company for sponsoring the team, but you can also have your logo placed on the shirts of all the players, so you get recognition for being a sponsor and it is a form of advertising.  It is not likely that you will get a tax deduction for this, but you may be able to claim it as a business expense.

You can donate to international charities, most of these are tax deductible and you can use it to your businesses’ advantage as well.  In the “About us” section of your website, you can list the organizations that you donate to every year.  You can also write up a press release and send them out to the local paper.  This is a great way to market your company as it gives the consumer an idea of you business practices.

Small business owners need only be creative and marketing can literally get done through the use to charities. You can get your name out there and gain a reputation for being a “caring” company, all the while writing off your marketing expenses as charitable donations, leaving more room for marketing in more ways.
